Welcome to Limericks in Music Education (LIME)

LIME
is a jocular web resource for curating and ‘publishing’ limericks on, about, or tangentially related to music education. The founding editors and sole review board members are Gareth Dylan Smith and Virginia Wayman Davis.* LIME publishes when the mood strikes.

Topics for LIME content may include, but should not be limited to:

  • The crazy, funny, and bizarre;

  • Self-deprecation and (not too) deeply existential musings;

  • Observation, description, and critique;

  • Extended, multi-stanza limericks that more fully explore phenomena or reactions to them;

  • Really, any limerick sort of related to music, education, or anything that titillates the ‘editors’.

To submit a limerick for consideration, please use the ‘GET IN TOUCH’ button at the top of this page or submit via Twitter at @LIMEtimetweets.

* LIME was born when Gareth was advised in early 2019 that despite having had several papers accepted for presentation at the Research in Music Education (RIME) conference in his native England, he would not be funded to travel there from the USA, as research was not part of his job. Ever the opportunist, Gareth realized that although he might not be able to RIME, at least he had free rein to LIME. Virginia agreed, and the editorial board was formed. A full year-and-a-bit later, this underwhelming web page was created.
